We provide a wide variety of digital hearing instruments. The following is a broad overview of the products that are available:

Hearing instruments that are subtle and offer a comfortable and natural sound. These are available in a wide variety of colors, with a choice of styles and programming options. Look at the following links to get an idea of the various products we offer:

The main factors that influence the prices of hearing instruments are the number of technical features, the benefits they provide and the sensitivity with which we can 'tune in' the hearing instruments to meet your individual hearing needs.

The more sophisticated (and therefore expensive) a hearing instrument is the more natural and comfortable it becomes.
The most sophisticated top of the range instruments provide the greater number of benefits and the most precise individual frequency tuning and are best suited to people who wear their hearing instruments for long periods and in a wide variety of social and professional situations.

The mid-range hearing instruments still provide excellent flexibility and very high performance in a more than acceptable range of environments, while our entry-level hearing instruments are more than adequate for people who require less demanding performance or tend to use the instruments in a more limited range of situations.

Being completely independent, we promise impartial advice and an entire range of modern digital hearing instruments supplied by leading manufacturers.

Hearing instruments are available in a wide range of styles and colours, from very discreet to more traditional styles. Should you select a hearing instrument from Huisamen & Gous Audiologists, one of our in-house audiologists will assist you in making the best decision to meet your individual hearing needs.

The main styles of hearing instruments are shown below.

RIC hearing instruments are typically small and stylish instruments that are fitted behind the top of the ear. These units are then attached to a slender fitted tube that is placed in the ear canal and held in place with a flexible silicon tip. These tips are normally fitted with large vents to allow as much natural sound into the ear as possible whilst still providing amplification where needed in a very targeted way. Due to the size of these devices they tend to be fitted with few controls and many adapt automatically to varying sound environments. They are virtually invisible and very easy to use.
Initially these were made for people with high frequency hearing loss and fairly good low frequency hearing, but owing to improved technology and better fitting domes/moulds they can now accommodate a much wider range of hearing losses.
Behind-the-ear hearing instruments fit comfortably behind the ear and are attached to an earmould to deliver the sound into the ear. They are frequently used for more severe types of hearing losses. The design is flexible for use with telephones and assistive listening devices.
In-the-ear hearing instruments are very easy to operate, even for those with poor dexterity.
This custom-made instrument can handle greater hearing loss than the ITC models. They fit comfortably into the outer ear. These hearing instruments come with the option of an adjustable volume control or a fully automatic version. They also cover a variety of hearing losses.
The smallest custom-made hearing instrument that fits almost invisibly into the ear.
The CIC design offers increased amplification and improved performance while using the telephone, because the hearing instrument sits closer to the eardrum.
In-the-canal hearing instruments are small and easy to operate.
Their custom-made design fits into the external section of the outer ear and makes them relatively unnoticeable and comfortable.
They come with the option of an adjustable volume control or a fully automatic version and cover a variety of hearing losses.
